What is an exchange-traded product (ETP)?

Exchange-traded products (ETP) is a collective term for ETFs and ETNs, exchange-traded funds and securities. These products give you the opportunity to invest in markets or products that are not normally available to private individuals. You can invest in products with shares, indices or commodities as the underlying factor. Different ETPs give you the opportunity to bet whether you believe in a price increase or decrease. You can also leverage your investment if you really believe in something.

Where do you buy ETPs?

You buy exchange-traded products when logged in to our share trading platform in the same way as you trade shares. In share trading you will find both index funds (ETF) and more risky leveraged products such as Bull and Bear (ETN). The price, i.e. the rates, will vary with supply and demand in the underlying market.

Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) provide easy access to different markets.

ETF: When you want to spread risk

Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) give you the best of both worlds: the flexibility of a share and the risk diversification of a mutual fund. An ETF is a fund that is listed on the stock exchange, just like individual shares. The fact that a fund is listed means that the price of a unit is quoted in real time. ETFs give you access to markets you would not otherwise be able to invest in as a private individual.

ETN: Bull and Bear – for the more risk-seeking investor

We offer exchange-traded notes (ETNs) from several providers. The risk in some of these is very high, some would say speculative. This applies especially to the leveraged products, also called Bull & Bear products. By investing in these you can reap massive gains, but you can also lose more than you invested. Before you invest, you must therefore familiarise yourself thoroughly with the risk of the particular product.
