AutoPASS toll tag

When you receive your new toll tag, it comes with a mounting bracket and a wet wipe that must be used to install the AutoPASS tag.

1. Start by removing any old tag. If you also need to remove the bracket from the old tag, be aware that adhesive residue from the bracket may remain on the windscreen. The adhesive residue can be scraped off.
2. Ensure that the windscreen is not cold – it should ideally be warmed up.
3. Use the wet wipe included with the toll tag to clean the windscreen where the new tag is to be attached. The area where you should attach the toll tag is usually a shaded section behind the mirror. The tag must not obstruct your view. On lorries, buses and other heavy vehicles, the tag must be placed at the bottom of the windscreen, but not so that it is hidden behind a windscreen wiper.
4. Remove the backing paper from the other side of the Velcro fastener, and press the tag against the windscreen for 10 seconds.

Previously, you had to pay a deposit for your toll tag. From 1 November 2023, the deposit scheme was replaced by a toll tag subscription, which costs NOK 5 per month. The subscription price covers costs associated with purchasing, dispatching and replacing toll tags.

If you have already paid a deposit, the cost of the subscription will be deducted from the deposit amount until it is used up. The tag subscription is shown on your invoice from AutoSync.

It is important to terminate the AutoPASS agreement immediately on "My profile" on autosync.no, or alternatively transfer it to another car.

The AutoPASS agreement is personal. If you remove the tag but do not cancel the agreement, you must still pay for the passages of the old car.

If you wish to use the toll tag in a new car, you must change the registration number on the toll tag on "My profile". This will also terminate the agreement on the sold car.

The toll tag can be used at all AutoPASS toll stations and on most ferries throughout Norway. In addition, you can use the tag on bridges and ferries in the Nordic region.

The toll tag is linked to your toll agreement for a specific vehicle. This means that if you sell the vehicle, you must remove the toll tag, and you must also remember to amend the agreement. If you get a new vehicle, you can use the tag for the new vehicle. You must then change the registration number on the agreement in My profile.

You pay for toll crossings and ferry trips after the journeys have been completed. How often you pay depends on how much you drive and how high your crossing costs are. If you have high crossing costs, you will receive an invoice up to twice a month. If they are low, several months may pass between each invoice. You can monitor crossing costs and invoices in My profile.

If you log in to My profile, you will get a full overview of crossings and invoices. You can also easily see how much you have crossed for since the previous invoice.

AutoSync collects toll charges on behalf of the regional operators. The toll charges are earmarked for the development projects that the authorities have decided they must be used for. In addition, AutoSync receives a small percentage fee of the collection amount. This sum is used for administration, development of new solutions and to cover losses if a customer does not pay.
