Exchange Rate When Using Your Card Abroad
When you use your card abroad, the local currency is converted to Norwegian kroner (NOK). The rate consists of an exchange rate set by Visa or Mastercard, and a currency conversion fee set by DNB.
When you make a purchase in local currency in a country connected to the EU/EEA or EØS, you are entitled to information about DNB's spread on the purchase. The reason for this is that there may be a difference between our exchange rate and the reference rate set by the European Central Bank (ECB). Both DNB's and the ECB's exchange rates will vary from day to day.
Information about the currency conversion fee and other charges related to the use of your card can be found in our Price list.
Below is an example of the various cost components in a currency conversion from Euro to NOK, and how the rate may differ from the rate of the European Central Bank (ECB).
